Who are we

The following team on the Czech, Kenyan and US sides manages the project:

Jan Havlíček

Honza is the founder of the whole project. He was the first of us to go to Africa in 2011 when he also met Kennedy. He fell in love with Africa. He got a plot of land from Kennedy, and together, they decided to build a nursery. Now, he controls the projects in Kenya, communicates with the local community and solves any problems that arise. He also looks for sponsors who, thanks to his travels, come from literally all over the world.

Kennedy Okombo

Kennedy is the director of Project Rael in Kenya. He manages the operations and takes care of all matters related to the Kenyan part of our business. He was the first to come up with the idea back in 2013. At that time, he also donated the land on which the nursery and primary school now stand. Kennedy takes care of them full time - 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He is reliable and would do anything for the nursery.

Šárka Horáková

Šárka, together with David, is responsible for planning events to support Project Rael in the Czech Republic. Her artistic skills provide the visual aspect of the project, which she implements with Hanka. She enjoys working with children, so she also focuses on events in schools and kindergartens. Her favourite thing to talk about in lectures is Kenya, which she has fallen in love with.

David Kožušník

David founded the non-profit organization Rael z.s. In the project, he is responsible for accounting, organizing events in the Czech Republic, and communicating with sponsors. He also leads volunteer groups for the project in Kenya. His most interesting expedition so far was climbing Kilimanjaro, which he successfully completed. He also likes to talk about rafting on the Nile.

Hanka Havlová

Hanka is our graphic designer. She patiently redesigned the logo despite our constant grumbling, and thanks to her, it looks so great now. But it's not just the logo that she's behind, but all of Project Rael's graphics, including the menu in our community cafe. If you see a poster at our event, she did it. But she can also step away from the computer and isn't afraid to put her hand to work wherever it's needed.

Martin Král

Martin is our IT wizard. All you had to do was say, "Martin, we need a website." He tapped a few times on the keyboard and the site was up. Like Hanka, he doesn't have it easy with the team. We always need to update, rewrite or redesign something. Martin does everything without hesitation. And he does it brilliantly. Well, judge for yourself.

Caroline Anyanga

Caroline is the headmistress of Rael Nursery and Primary School. Already at the interview, she impressed us with her energy, imagination and passion for the project. Caroline has a huge amount of responsibility. She looks after over 350 children at the school and nursery and oversees the work of over 30 staff members. As a testament to Caroline's hard work, more and more children are applying to the school, and parents are raving about the institution.

Dolphine Achieng

Dolphine is the coordinator of our program to support orphans and the poorest children. She ensures the children are healthy, have a place to sleep and go to school regularly. She is also the community centre manager, who ensures the library and café run smoothly. Dolphine also has two children of her own at Rael Nursery and School, so she knows the project from a parent's perspective.

Kateřina Herodesová

Kate is a whiz with the written word, so the newsletters, social media and web texts are mainly thanks to her. She joined the team after experiencing Kenya first-hand several times and convincing herself that the Rael project made sense. And because she also enjoys working with children, she is actively involved in the orphan support program and goes with others to help on the ground whenever she can.

Tereza Lukšová

In June 2022, Terka volunteered at our kindergarten, where she helped as much as she could for a week. She also had one special task: to inform our followers and supporters on social media about what is happening in Africa. She was so good at this that she didn't take long to be persuaded and added to the team. She is now in charge of finding new sponsors for Project Rael.
